Recently the Federal Government approved a 42-billion-dollar broadband expansion bill. The bill is aimed at addressing a lack of internet connectivity in rural areas. New England States are estimated to have 85,242 homes and businesses without internet. The money will be divided based on the need with Maine receiving the highest amount of 272 million dollars. Vermont is receiving the second highest amount of 229 million dollars.

The Maine Connectivity Authority has laid out a plan for how those funds will be used. They are seeking public opinion about the plan. To read the plan and submit feedback visit Planning | MCA (maineconnectivity.org).
